विश्‍वभर में हर साल 20 नवम्‍बर को बाल दिवस मनाया जाता है। इस दिन को बचपन का जश्‍न मनाने के लिए चुना गया है1959 से पहले बाल दिवस अक्‍टूबर महीने में मनाया जाता था। संयुक्‍त राष्‍ट्र संघ की महासभा द्वारा लिये गये निर्णय के हिसाब से यह सबसे पहले 1954 में मनाया गया। वास्‍तव में इस दिन को बच्‍चों के बीच जानकारी के आदान-प्रदान और आपसी समझदारी विकसित करने के साथ-साथ बच्‍चों के कल्‍याण से जुड़ी लाभार्थी योजनाओं के उद्देश्‍य से शुरू किया गया था। बाल दिवस 1959 में जिस दिन संयुक्‍त राष्‍ट्र की महासभा ने बच्‍चों के अधिकारों के घोषणापत्र को मान्‍यता दी थी, उसी दिन के उपलक्ष्‍य में 20 नवम्‍बर को चुना गया। इसी दिन 1989 में बच्‍चों के अधिकारों के समझौते पर हस्‍ताक्षर किए गए जिसे 191 देशों द्वारा पारित किया गया। सर्वप्रथम बाल दिवस जिनेवा के इंटरनेशनल यूनियन फॉर चाइल्‍ड वेलफेयर के सहयोग से विश्‍वभर में अक्‍टूबर 1953 को मनाया गया था। विश्‍वभर में बाल दिवस का विचार दिवंगत श्री वी के कृष्‍ण मेनन का था और जिसे संयुक्‍त राष्‍ट्र की महासभा द्वारा 1954 में अपनाया गया। 20 नवम्‍बर वैश्विक बाल दिवस है।...
